Python functions are reusable bits of code.
There are a lot of built in functions with python… like type() – which you have already seen if you have been doing this in sequence. But also many more useful functions that come built in with Python.
- help() – just put a function name in the parentheses and python will tell you how to use it!
There are functions for just about any standard kind of code you might want to use, so if you want you can search online and see if it’s already been done instead of trying to write it yourself.
You will also learn more about functions as you learn to write code from tutorials, or answers to stack overflow questions, or just reading though the Python documentation.
